The Indexing Service Chooser
If you're running Windows 2000 or XP, the Indexing Service Chooser appears at the bottom of every Eluent Tools
Task Dialog Box. It allows you to search specific Indexing
Service catalogs on your local computer and computers on your
network.
Below, the Indexing Service Chooser is about to find files containing
either the word "sonicwall" or the phrase "digital
camera", and it will look in the local catalogs Docs and System
as well as the System catalog located on a networked computer
named Dell. This Indexing Service query returned a number of pdf,
html, and txt files, and it took about two seconds to execute. The
referenced catalogs indexed roughly 70,000 files.
Besides searching entire catalogs, Path Plans allow you to limit your
search to specific folders you're interested in. Eluent Tools will infer
the machines and catalogs to search from the paths. The Advanced
button in each of these Path Plan dialog tabs leads to the Advanced
Filters dialog box, which contains an Indexing Service tab. This
means you can always filter with Indexing Service, and you can store
Indexing Service queries as part of a Path Plan.
