Service Links
In order to index a file's contents, the Windows Indexing
Service must open the file, find all the words it contains, and
record those words in an index. Indexing Service accomplishes this with
the help of IFilter DLLs, dynamic link libraries that know how to
extract text and properties from various file formats. Windows 2000 comes with IFilters
for Microsoft Office, HTML, and text files. To filter additional file
types, such as Adobe Acrobat documents, you will need to install an
